If you have been following me on here and on YouTube, then you know I have been developing an upper and lower control arm set for D100s from 1972-1993.
I am accepting deposits on the three upcoming packages. This will help me determine interest in this large project of mine. The deposit amount is 50% due now, and the remaining 50% due by the first week of June unless paid in full up front. I am not expecting any delays, testing will begin shortly. I am still developing the third package which is quite pricey, and plan to run it hard on my own project for demonstration, so deposits are non refundable. They help with the development and purchasing of goods to bring this project into product status. The only part that I produce myself are the sheet metal control arm pieces, everything else, I am paying full retail price on!
There are 3 packages coming -
✪ Upper Control Arm Package
- Just the uppers, for Van LCA swaps
✪ Complete Control Arm Package (D100 Spindle)
- Uppers and Lowers that come with an adjustable rearward tension strut arm, and utilizes F body coil overs (not included)
✪ Advanced Control Arm Package (MII Spindle)
- Uppers and Lowers that come with an adjustable rearward tension strut arm, utilizes F body coil overs (not included), and your choice of MII spindles (not included). MII spindles have many many options for brake packages. This kit will also utilize the MII rack n pinion steering gear (not included) and will include the adapter bracket, and the steering intermediate shaft.
There is a kit for every budget! That was the idea behind what I am doing here. All made out of 1/4" cold rolled steel.
The uppers are the spiritual successor to Brandon Fruth's Tubular control arms. These are needed to correct the alignment after lowering your truck with Van LCAs.
My lower control arms were designed with coil overs in mind. They match the uppers, and give you more adjustablility thanks to your choice of coil overs. The rearward facing adjustable tension strut arms replace the factory tension struts that are mounted to the front cross member, which I have found contributes to deformation and cracking at the rivets. I recommend removing the rivets and bolting the cross member in, then adding some stitch welds. Inspect your steering box mount for cracks there as well.
The advanced kit is for using Mustang II spindles. It uses the stock K772 upper ball joint, and the lower is a K719. The K772 is often used as a lower ball joint for MII spindles, but it is not a true lower ball joint and doesnt like tension loads. They will feel "sticky". The K719 is a bit thicker so a reamer will be needed to open up the lower part of the MII spindle for it to fit properly. The MII spindle can be had in the standard and 2 inch drop varieties. There are many different brake kits and options for MII spindles. A stock MII rack and pinion is also the perfect match for the geometry of the D100 lower control arms, so this kit will come with an adapter plate for the MII rack n pinion gear, and a steering intermediate shaft.
Im opening pre-orders now. The complete kit for D100 spindles is currently being tested and thrashed on a 70s Club Cab with a Cummins swap, with videos on YouTube! If these can handle the weight and abuse of a Cummins, then they will handle anything! This pre-order listing is for introductory pricing! $200, $400, $500. I will take as many pre-orders as I can for this introductory stage as a reward for those who are 100% behind me on this big endeavor. Once I conclude the thrash sessions (summer 2025) and determine these bullet proof, I will start fulfilling all the pre-orders, then update this listing for the regular Quarterly pre-order pricing - $250, $500, $600. I will also set another listing for single order pricing - $300, $600, $700. I plan to conclude my assessment by Summer 2025, should give me plenty of time to make any adjustments and updates if any are needed. Follow the testing progress and my project on YouTube! I am building a 1974 D100 that will feature the Advanced kit, and all of my products! More details and pictures will be listed here as testing goes on. I am sure everyone wants to see how over the top the Advanced kit will be. I know I do!
