1972-1974 V.3 and Double Din Mounting

1972-1974 V.3 and Double Din Mounting

Its here! I revised the design of the 72-74 gauge panels. The panel is made rigid at the top, eliminating the need for the extra straps on the prior design. This update makes Version 3 of the 72-74 panels as this was always the most difficult panel to figure mounting strategies on.

For all the panels going forward, I have updated the double din radio mounting strategy. Single dins have always come with a standard cage to make it easy. Double dins are usually ISO mounting, requiring specific dash kits for the vehicle you have. 72-93 trucks never came with double din radios. The universal cages for double din, while a working design, never satisfied me with the complications that could arise from the varying brands of aftermarket cages. I've had a few complaints about the double din solution Ive had but the wheels were not turning yet to create my own ISO mounting for all of my dashes. As you can see, it will ship flat like all my panels do, and you can easily bend the tabs by hand 90 degrees inward. The tabs are slotted to install 4 screws on each side to center and securely install the radio before mounting the dash panel to the dash board of your pickup. There are reliefs at the top and bottom of the panel to allow the slots of the radio trim ring to clip to the radio unobstructed. I will be making an installation video on all three of my gauge panel offerings soon, along with very good wiring basics, and my adapter plug Ive been working on.
