Its been a while since I have updated on here in regards to my 1974 D100 project. If you have not yet seen the video on YouTube, I was let go at the shop where I started my Project Adventure. Nothing good lasts forever right? Its not all bad news.
I didnt waste any time, and immediately got hired at another shop, a well known and well equipped shop in Visalia, CA. Ive known the owner for several years, long before he bought the shop I am now working at. He's a big Dodge truck fanatic like me, and like you! He even bought some of my gauge panels a couple years ago. There are a lot of old 72-93 trucks at this shop that are either finished, or current projects. Boss likes to buy, fix, and sell them.
This shop is well equipped to help me along with my project. There are many high powered MIG welders, Plasma Cutters, sheet metal working tools, and most importantly, a CNC plasma table!
The table was not working when I started because the table was sitting outside of a high school metal shop for a long time before It was donated to this shop. Rust was eating away at some of it. The roller bearings for the rails were all shot. There wasnt a computer let alone software to run the thing.
This is where I come in. I had a laptop, keyboard and mouse, and a wide screen monitor that I was using at my previous shop, and no longer needed any of it. I sold my equipment to the shop, and then repaired the CNC plasma table. New bearings, removed corrosion from the slides, and got the appropriate software to run a Torch Mate 2x2 Growth series table. I plan to make a short video on this as soon as I get it fully operational.
This was the fork in the road I came across, and I chose correctly. The other path was going back to work at the Dodge Dealership I worked at before, but my heart was not in it. I took a little bit of a paycut in order to work where I wanted. But now my drive to provide quality content and new things for our trucks is higher than ever! I just made a Patreon to help fund the projects I am working on. Give it a look, and as always, I appreciate all of you.
